Red and Green Pizza Garlicky Blend

I buy larger quantities of dry spices and mix my own seasoning mixes. This works well for me because I can limit the number of spices that I buy and then make specific mixes that I use. I control the amount of salt in fact none of my mixes have salt in them so I add salt at the end in the dish as needed.

I recommend a nice little book "Herb Mixtures & Spicy Blends" by Maggie Oster. You can get it on line, it's a good book of mixes that I'm sure will help you in your everyday meals. This recipe comes from this  book and I always have a small jar in the panty and use it daily.

Red & Green Pizza Garlicky Blend
Yield: 1/3 cup
  • 2 T. dried oregano
  • 1 T. dried basil
  • 1/2 T. fennel seeds (I don't crush)
  • 1/2 T. dried thyme
  • 1 tsp. garlic granules ( I reduce to 1/2 tsp.)
  • 1 T. cayenne Pepper flakes (I reduced to 1/2 T. )
Combine all ingredients and store in an airtight jar away from heat and light.

Uses:
Anything that needs a jolt of spice, like spaghetti, pizza, soups, omelets....
